Last Wednesday - I decided to bring out 4 of my courgette plants from the greenhouse and stand them outside on my patio during the day, to harden off. I brought them indoors and transferred them to a shallow container that would hold all four of them then stepped outside my french door laying the container with plants down for a moment while I cleared a space!...oh what a stupid thing to do!
As I was doing this, a neighbouring cat suddenly appeared from no-where making me jump and making his way into the open french door into my flat....I stepped backwards quickly to shut the door and wham....stepped straight back into my tray of plants... :o......they all were tipped out of their pots, compost everywhere, labels scattered and 3 out of the 4 were broken :'( :'(
I was sooooo upset....have been nurturing these for some weeks now - first time I've grown them from seed - the only one that appears to have survived wasn't the best plant - sods law that.....had long straggly stem but it still appears to be alive back in the greenhouse....2 of the 4 were those little 'round' ones so was experimenting with those.
Have sown 2 more of the 'round' ones in the hope that they will germinate quickly....
How I cursed that cat - which is lovely but becoming a real nuisance - I can no longer open my windows more than an inch or two as he keeps trying to get in (& to other flats too) - I'm a ground floor flat and must have fresh air!!
Fortunately still have a couple of good strong 'Zucchini' variety plants well advanced in greenhouse but wanted to give some to my Horticultural Society for their plant sale.
Bad luck, HP- it's that much more annoying when you do it yourself, isn't it? I managed to stand on several asparagus plants while weeding the patch recently!
Upsetting Hot potato, but do not be deterred from growing more from seed, there is still time and they will romp away at an amazing speed. I was caught by a powerful frost around this time last year (a week earlier actually), and lost all my plants instantly.
Holding your hand, HP - put out a tray of beetlings this pm to harden off - wind ripped them all out of the tray!!
dropped a brick on one of my beetlings yesterday, cracking a new planter in the process.
i felt dreadfully guilty (about the plant not the planter). :'(
Hurrying to put the frame lights on this pm, during a severe hailstorm tried to cut my finger off by breaking the light! Trip to cas after tea!

Ouch - hope all is OK now. Stitches??
and more importantly, how many fingers left for typing ;D ;D
