Keef the bad news is that there's a whole lot more rain coming during this next week. I'm really grateful for the rain as we need it so desperately but it would be nice to have sunny days inbetween now and again so things can get done. Think I'll be getting my raincoat out tomorrow and working in the rain, after this week it's half term and I know nothing will get done then.

I got drenched walking the dogs this morning, Barrie (oh) had to go to the lottie to tie up broad beans, and check up after last nights gales. He got drenched too!!! Son no 2 has just arrived with a weeks worth of wet washing!!! Please don't mention the drought, just as wet inside today!!! ::)

Just got back from my plot, now waiting for the hot water to heat up for a radox soak! (don't feel so guilty with so much water falling!)
Had to meet my manure man up there, he just delivered a load, (£30) so a VERY kind friend came up (notice OH was a no show!!) and we have been shovelling for an hour in the pouring rain, and the worst thing, it isn't that well rottted, so had to take my clothes off downstairs by the washing machine (my jeans are actually outside in the rain) cos the rest of the family, who have been sitting playing games in the warmth and dry of the house, told me I stunk!  Theres gratitude for ya! ;D  D, "the drowned rat", P

DP No doubt they will enjoy the produce ;D ;D I did hear it was going to be fine on Tuesday. Hope so, apart from the garden it is Charlie's birthday and we all go to the cemetery to  put flowers (no different from any other week really) His sister (Chislehurst) orders flowers from our local florist and I take them up for her..If it IS raining I am sure I will hear him saying "You silly b--gers, fancy coming out in this" ;D ;D ;D

Lorna I hope Charlie's Anniversary goes okay for you! Life goes on, but it is good to take time to remember loved ones that are gone, especially on their birthday.  I have got a wooden bench in my garden with a little plaque on for my Mum and Dad, as they don't have graves, and it is a real good space for me to sit and think of them, during special times.

I feel for you DP, we helped our lottie neighbour shovel his manure a few weeks ago in the brilliant sunshine  and got about 12 barrow loads for ourselves too and it is hard work -  doubley worse in the rain  - all heavy and sticky, I would imagine. Shame on your family, -  just wait until you reap the rewards of it by bringing all those lovely veggies home...then they'll  be sorry!   ;) Have a lovely long soak!

Talking about the weather, it was gorgeous here this morning, clear blue skies and lots of sunshine.  The forcast did say rain for our area, so it was a bit of a pleasant surprise to have it dry and nice.  Put some more lettuces in at the lottie and some Golden Acre cabbages, and sowed some more spinach seeds. Had intended to do the rest of our back garden, but got distracted at my plot. The rain came this afternoon so my plan of getting in the back was disrupted. So panic on, as this time next week (weather permitting) we are having a Birthday BBQ for my son and the back garden is only half done!  :o  Will be rushing out in between showers to get some weeding in. busy_lizzie

it was fabulous here at 7.30am ... brilliant sunshine which steadily disappeared until the rain set in at around 10.30am ... has been downpouring most of the day.

Stacks to do outside, but its just too wet.  Managed to clear the potting shed and get my ring cultures going for toms, pepper and cucumber at least.  Hope its better next weekend !

i've been out in it all afternoon and husband even came out to help me!! it was brilliant. lifted turf (best done in the wet), and then filled them up with compost to create two 8' x 3' beds in new garden and planted out a load of veggies and herbs in a lovely ornamental way in one and some herbs in the other one while it waits for the runners, sweetcorn and courgettes.

it was quite hazardous though as you had to watch your fork on every dig in case you speared a robin!

alos repotted some marginals in the pond, my jeans are also outside!!

Its been raining on and off here in London all weekend.

Went to the allotment yesterday with little son and just got into planting cabbages when the sky opened up we hid in the compost bin with a piece of cardboard as a roof (he loved it hasn't stopped telling everyone). Our compost bin is open at the front made of pallets if you had visions of us climbing into it.

Today I went down to net my cabbages and check that the cardboard hadn't blown off and got even wetter while planting my mange tout. The foxes had fun and dig up a couple of cabbages and chewed at my lino discs.

Did some gardening this morning then the rain came with a vengeance. I did some work in the greenhouse, dog kept in the back porch just peeping out the door now and again to make sure I was still about. At 6.30pm the sun came out, grandson came round and he and his Dad took the dogs for a 40min walk. Joshua loves taking Elsa she is very good with him. They let her off the lead when they are down the lane, she came back tired and VERY muddy!!

Been awful here all weekend - typical that as soon as I sign for the lotty it starts raining ::)

Yesterday it was pretty torrential & the only thing we got done was marking out...well apart from laughing at DS splashing around in all the muddy puddles and generally having a ball.

Today was slightly better, although still raining it wasnt quite so heavy....DH & I went down in full waterproof gear, trousers hats & coats....but the ****ing strimmer we hired wouldnt start so still nothing done again. >:( >:(

When's it going to stop?

I predict solid rain til Thursday. That's because I am off work til then! Will just have to face facts and tidy the shed instead, only had it for a couple of months and can barely get into it with all my stuff! So will construct shelves, sweep, tidy and feel virtuous!

I went to the plot late afternoon when the sun came out for a bit. The weather was only regrouping theough, and we had a thunderstorm not long after I got there. It missed the site, almost (I got pretty damp), but at one point I thought the stream was going to flood. Fortunately it stayed in its banks. I did manage to plant out four varieties of tomato (Black Seaman, Stupice, Taxi and Buckbee 50 day), and put cloches over them.

Piddled down persistently all day long!  Spent the morning with my darlings 99 year old Great Nan, we took her some plants for her garden, but she really didn't want to go out in the pouring rain to put them in so she is hoping for sun soon, then onto mums for lunch.  Driving back down the M25 the traffic was dreadful.  Several small bumps caused several large traffic jams, and sometimes the visability was dreadful!  Glad my darling is such a good driver.  We were meant to be in Wales this weekend on a motorbike rally, but I didn't fancy it (long story) but after reading the reports from those that did go, it sounds like they were all very wet and very cold.

Still raining here too, the only dry places are in the house and the polytunnel. Been to check everything, came home soaked and will probably spend the rest of the afternoon snuggled up on the sofa.

Even the stable roof is leaking again and the poor horses are soaked, little old pony has had to have his winter rug put back on as he's shivering so much.

Not much we can do down at the lottie apart from watch the water run down the paddocks!!!!

I'm near York & it's hardly stopped raining for the last 3 days! We went to a "Jazz on a summer's afternoon" event yesterday! The jazz was good but the summer...
And it's not just wet, it's COLD- wished I'd taken a woolly hat when I walked the dog. There's supposed to be a bit of brighter weather tomorrow before more rain, so I'll have to get down the lottie if I can- I've got lots of plants outgrowing their pots.

I've been waiting for the right moment to launch the 'North Hykeham Belle'. All I need is a cheap bottle of plonk and a local dignitary to help me out and she'll be with you. Haven't got much in the way of animals to send two by two - will slugs do?
