Title: Wilko?
Post by: telboy on May 20, 2006, 16:27:56
I trust this is short for Wilkinson?
I read that a store is coming to our local town.
Are they any good for allotment/gardening stuff?

They have a lot of stuff cheap, so it'll be a good thing for you.

Lucky you Telboy - Wilkinson's is a great store, you can get all sorts of fab things for the allotment and at the end of the season eveything is sold off half price, so cheap becomes ridiculously cheap !

Certainly make good use of ours, but poundland can sometimes be even better!

Congrats, Telboy. Great store, great gardening section, great value. And I've found that there's no quibble abt getting money back - even if you've used the item a couple of times ;). Their own make gardening tools are OK, too, if you don't want top-of-the-range quality of course. Bought a folding saw, £2.99 which has been ever so useful to have in my tool bucket on my gardening jobs. Good kitchen stuff as well - particularly those blue boxes KP found at Morries - same price at Wilko's - and in Barbie pink too 8).

I got loads of cheap halp price seeds last year, so keep going in to check for sales.

When they clear off their gardening stuff - including the tables, chairs, etc.etc. to make way for the Christmas stuff (any time now, then :D)...our local Wilko's donates any unsold stuff to the charity shops round about.

Well impressed.

I was very impressed with Wilko recently. I needed some stuff for greenhouse maintenance - They had the whole lot. And they didn't rip me off like another certain DIY store - I think they are called B-B-Q or something. Can't remember!!!

You will love Wilkinsons, Telboy, they are brilliant for gardening stuff.  They especially have great sales at the end of the season with cheap seeds and lots of bedding plants going cheaply. We have recently bought two standard bay trees there, which I am going to use for my daughters wedding. I will decorate them with ribbon and stand them at our front door for when my bride daughter comes out in her gown.  We got them for a fraction of the price a garden centre would charge.  busy_lizzie

I will be paying them a visit shortly, for I have just broken an excellent pair of lopping shears which I had for 28 years, so need a replacement. I believe they do some loppers ...

I asked in mine today when the end-of-season sale will be. Answer = it depends on the weather (and that's why there are already bargains), but generally abt mid-September. Worth keep checking in.
