Finally, I was able to do a gardening job - 2 cancelled this week cos of the rain (sorry those of you who can't remember what that is ::)), but a full day today in my fave garden (apart from my own), a Friday night bottle of wine opened, and the weekend ahead 8)
Everything that needs to be sown has been, everything that needs to be potted on, ditto....
Hoping to finally get the 3 arches erected and, who knows? If there's a dry spell, may have the 1st battle of the year with the hawthorn hedges.....wonder who'll win? :o
What do you have planned?
Well my weekend started this morning really as Friday is 'my' day! After number one son performed beautifully at his last reception class assembly, (OMG, he is going to be a year one-er in September! Where did that year go?), I shot up to the plot and had a lovely day as everything is growing like the clappers. Came home with a good harvest (see gallery) and had to do a taxi run to collect number one son, then number one daughter from Karate club. Now she is in the bath, he is watching cartoons, and I have a bottle of vino downstairs waiting for me. Freshly picked salad and fab sausages for tea. Tomorrow is our day off - nothing much planned so we can do as we please. Sunday off to see my darlings 99 year old Great Nan (I have bought some lovely plants for her and the kids to plant in her garden as she still likes to potter, and a suet block bird feeder and cage for my darling to hang for her on her bird table), and then in the afternoon to my mums for roast chook and all the trimmings, including rhubarb crumble which is now out of the oven, cooling on the side! Have a great weekend everyone!
A bottle of wine sounds good right now, we have some lovely homemade wine sitting downstairs and ready to drink mmmm.
This weekend we have no plans. The polytunnel is finished and I've already planted up a load of stuff in there today so the only thing left to do on the lottie is to goat proof the fencing properly. Hopefully if the weather holds off we'll get that done tomorrow or sunday.
As for the rest of the time, we'll just potter about, read books, watch tv, relax and maybe even go out riding the horses.
This weekend we only have 2 out of 5 kids so we might even get a lie in!! YAY
Good Grief!
Don't feel in control at all and starting to panic a bit. Need to put some more lettuces in at the lottie, also my cabbages and brussel sprouts are now ready to put in and some tagetes and marigolds ready too, and must also sow my parsnips next week. After a week of mostly rain it was dry today, so I managed to do our front garden at home, it is now all set with bedding plants and OH will do the hanging baskets in the next few days.
Our back garden is a bit of a mess and we have my sons Birthday BBQ a week on Sunday, so that is next, though we are expecting rain over the weekend. I have a committee meeting at the lottie site on Sunday to discuss the security probems we are having with vandals and if it is dry then I can do some of my lottie work while I am there. If it rains tomorrow at least I can get on with some baking for the party. I envy those of you in control and so well organised - where does all the time go. :-\ busy_lizzie
