Title: Let the bounty begin!
Post by: Mrs Ava on May 19, 2006, 16:50:16
Todays harvest!  Rhubarb crumble in the oven, that and the cabbage to go to mums on Sunday as she is in charge of lunch!

In the trug there are red spring onions, radish, mixed lettuce, few little new pots from the volunteers around the plot, white sprouting brocolli and the last of the purple.  Rhubarb and bright lights chard - yellow and white, and a cabbage and cauli, can't remember the varieties!  ;D

mmmmmmmmmmm, mouth-wateringly delicious, EJ. And hasn't it been a good season for rhubarb? Don't throw the spring onion tops away - make a lovely soup (I found out yesterday ;))

So nice to plan the day's food round the vegetables ready, isn't it? It's what it's all about...

Can I ask when you sowed the cauli and cabbage to be harvesting now please?
Also if you know what variety they are.

Thanks  :)

The cabbage and caulis were planted in the autumn.  I'm afraid I have no idea of the variety, labeling isn't my strong point.

Thanks for that, I am learning all the time, I didn't know there were varieties that would over winter to be ready now.

Fab stuff EJ, I must remember to sow some spring cabbage this year ::)  I had my "last of the purple" today - very "last of" it was too! ;D
