Title: Green Beans are being devoured!
Post by: Tollanedrag on May 18, 2006, 22:12:27
Please can anyone tell me what is most likely to be munching the leaves of my dwarf green beans? They are disappearing fast in one pot, but the pot next to it has not been touched - yet!!
What can I do to protect them?
Grateful for any help!

If slugs you will seem the slime trails in most cases.

If the leaves are being notched then it could be pea/bean weevil. Give the plant a dusting of derris to see them off.

Thanks everyone.
The pots are on a bed of chippings and only one pot has been touched (out of six) .
There are some notches on some leaves but others have holes right through the middle.
I will try a light dusting with derris anyway and see what happens. Nothing to lose!
Whatever it is, it has targeted the smallest plants at the moment ,so hoping it will leave the bigger ones alone and not start on my peas which are growing  nearby!!
I've also got babygem lettuce across the pathway from them but they have not been touched either, - or should I say - YET!
