Yeah! Good in the U.K. Ain't it?
I thought that I have done my bit over the last 66 years but thought I could do more.
Our County Council backed a Company making 'daleks' & water butts & the leaflets came. I have supported them in the past & have purchased another 'dalek' & waterbutt (we have hose restrictions). I have been advised that I have to wait 8 weeks for the goods due to demand.
I find from my bankstatement that they have debited my account one month ago & by the time I receive the goods, they will have enjoyed interest on my money for three months.
Rip off Britain again!!!!!!!!!
By the way - my picture did not show the HAIL! Much damage.
Looks like what we had a couple of days ago. Hailstones as big as golf balls - well, nearly.
;)
It absolutely bucketed down during last lesson today, and I saw quite a lot of massive black clouds going over.
The water butt on my lottie is filling up nicely, I purchased it on one of the water company specials and fitted it to the guttering on my shed back in Feb. It took ages for any rain to come but a few good showers and it soon fills up. However one water but on the lottie isn't nearly big enough. It soon empties when you start using a watering can. I may think about another next spring when the demand is lower and the rain will be about to fill it up.
Havent been able to get to lotty yesterday or today because of rain. The weather forecast says it will be rainy at least until Tuesday...imagine the weeds when we all get back!
Quite nice here today but it has rained heavily earlier on in the week, we have a bath next to the stable block that fills from guttering and pipes when it rains which has been filled and refilled at least 3 times( we empty it and use it for plants, horses drinking etc)
Send it to us Tim, we are desperate, of course the water companies have known for years that there would be a shortage and done nought! >:(
Mind you having said send it to us, I am very glad to report it is raining this morning, hard enough that it broke a load of my sweetcorn seedlings that I had put out, and more for the weekend they say, knew my manure delivery on a Saturday was a bad idea!! :-\
Tiddled down, all water butts and bins full to overflowing! Much joy!! 8)
Glad of that - but did anyone notice that the hail was transparent. Spooky?
No hail in Essex - phewie!
It rained heavily all night here, no doubt the springs on my plot will spring back into life, as they seem to everytime we get heavy rain. Heavy rain is a pain in our area, our soil lies on a heavy Tunbridge Wells Sand subsoil, which is utterly inpenitrable to water, as a result we get waterlogged in seconds, and then the water drains away leavng us with dry clay once more. Only a light drizzle ever leaves us with the happy middle ground.
It held off here yesterday, but today and tomorrow we are supposed to have torrential rain. No drought up here....we have plenty of water. In the local news last night they showed our full to the brim reservoirs and in fact the local government is thinking about making it a bit of a marketing ploy: "Move your factory up to the North East, where we have an abundance of water", type thing! busy_lizzie
