Title: Raspberries - Is it too late?
Post by: greenfingered fiend on May 17, 2006, 19:14:35
I live in Buckinghamshire and really wanted to grow a few canes of raspberries on my allotment but is it too late to plant them. Could I do anything to accelerate the possibility of still harvesting fruit this year?

Is there anywhere I can buy mature plants from?

Soo many questions!

Thanks.

buy some autumn fruiting raspberry plants from Buckingham Nurseries (if they are local.)  They will not be mature, but do fruit on same years growth from Aug/Sept to first frosts.  It is a bit late now, but you will get something.

I did this in 1993 and most of the plants are still going strong.

yep that should do it and the big advantage of Autumn Rasps is you can't cut out the wrong canes, 'cos you cut them all down in spring!
