Title: Our Saturday
Post by: Mrs Ava on March 14, 2004, 10:52:26
Okay, to bore you all rigid, as you know, the outlaws had the kids for a couple of hours so we could make a start on siting the shed.  The weather was good, occassional showers, but that didn't stop us.  I had spent the last 2 visits clearing all the brambles from behind the compost heap and revealing a ridge which was a very old compost heap.  18 barrow loads dumped on my plot.  ;D  This pic is the rear of my compost heap where the shed is going to be, still a bit rough before Ava did some donkey work.

His muscles yanked out masses of old chicken wire and netting - some of thei chicken wire I cleaned up and will be able to use  ;D, the rest went to the tip - Avas first job.  A postal sack full of broken glass, 3 barrow loads of old rotten wood and a mound of chicken wire.  A previous occupier must have had a cold frame affair there and it had long rotted and collapsed.

Back from the dump and he starts bringing the shed base onto the site.

Now to level the ground and get some slabs in.

(http://www.hpphoto.com/servlet/LinkPhoto?GUID=6df57320-56bf-1769-3d24-280f39ba7bd7&size=) (see, I did do some of the work too - actually, I was knackered!)

So, the base is now prepared, didn't have to move the compost heap, all the rubbish is gone, and the site is looking tidy.  Ava is off work Thursday and Friday, so Friday morning whilst the kids are at school we will be down there to do some more building.

Oh, here are a couple of pics of the shed before Ava dismantled it.  As you can see, an old shed, but lovely and big, more like a mini workshop.  Going to be great for our tools, chairs, and stove  ;D plus a great place for the kids to have a den and play, and for all of us to escape those summer storms.

You deserve a great return for all that. But don't show pictures of you having a BBQ in the shed or I shall be V jealous! = Tim

Great pics, great work , EJ  ;D

No you didnt bore me at all fascinating - love that kind of work - except I'd have been happy to leave the shed to someone else - dont like DIY much, even if i am quite good at it (in the garden at least).

Your plot before you started (well the bit where the shed now is - I am sure the rest is fine) reminded me a bit of our garden when we moved in - a bit of a mess!  ;D

It was a great day yesterday wasnt it? nice and sunny and spring like. I spent it putting together the frame for a new raised bed in the veg plot. Just need to fill it now (weather permitng of course  ::) )

Have fun!!

Ah ha, wasnt just me getting the ground ready for a shed - bought one on e-bay last week, gonna pick it up on Sunday...but having a hell of a job getting the bit it's going on level.  It's at the top of me lottie (in the sky, it's almost as steep as Doris Pinks) and I gotta concrete it cos I can't carry paving stones with me bad back..

wish it would stop flipin rainin so I could get it done tho... :(

Will take a piccy of my wicked "view from a shed" when it's done...
