Sadly I do not think these will survive. The nest is in one of the compost heaps and I assume that the protective layer has fallen away. Even then I think the cats or magpies would have them. Sad really. I have put a sheet of corrugated iron in frint of the nest so it is not as visible any more, but there is not a lot else I can do.
Moving a sheet of corrugated in front of them would be a good way of persuading the parents to desert. Has anything fallen that you know of? It does seem odd if the nest was in full view.
What has fallen off is the whole front of the compost heap, but there is no way it can be put back, Silly place to build anyway, as Isaid. Even when hidden the heap is the home to rats, mice, voles and visted by cats, magpies, crows etc. AND we visit rather often too. AND there may well be gras snakes in there.

As of 3 this afternoon the nest was still intact and babies still alive and mother (?wren ?robin, not sure she flies off as soon as we get too close) sitting on them. Bit inconvenient as we really needed to turn the heaps. Still we will just have to wait.
We'll keep our fingers crossed for them Pals but I don't think it will be enough!

Don't despair,
I had a duck nesting on my compost heap pretty much in the open and exposed. She was pestered by Crows and other beasts, and frequently left the nest, but only on Monday did she proudly waddle off down to the river with her 6 ducklings. Maybe a slightly different kettle of fish to your situation, but there is still some hope.....
At least i can now turn my compost heap!
Keep us up to date with their progress, however traumatic it may be.
I think it is a robin. She was still sitting at 10 am today and she seems to have pulled some of the loose stuff from the heap over the nest to make some shelter.
We have to go to the compost area, but we are trying to keep it to a minimum. Fortuantely there is not much going on in the garden at present because of the lousy weather!

Yes i wish them luck too, poor little things, but you never know, it could all work out.
As of 6 o clock this evening mother was still sitting on them , but I could only see two chicks not four and whether they were moving or not was hard to see in the brief time I allowed myslef. I would think she would abandon if the chicks were all dead, ????
Sadly today there is no sign of any baby birds.
