Title: Black turtle bean
Post by: bellebouche on May 13, 2006, 20:02:17
Just getting ready to put a bed of these in... did abot 50 plants last year for the first time and they were no trouble at all. I picked half of them very early (not much more than mange-tout size) for pickling and let the rest grow on.

I used seed from a bag that I'd bought for making bean burritos and Feijoada, just soaked them in a bowl of water for a couple of days and when they started to sprout chucked them in shallow drills, they all came up rapidly - very rewarding to grow like this.

So, this year - I'm going to put in a very large bed. have prepped a big 6mx4m plot for them and have the seed soaking already.

Anyone else ever grown these?

Adrian
