Title: Achocha (?)
Post by: saddad on May 13, 2006, 13:07:17
I think that is how you spell it, got some seed from Heritage seed library HDRA Coventry... annual climber from S America... edible pods, prefers cool and damp to hot and dry, quite ornamental serrated leaves. Grows well up pea and bean netting. Pods can be eaten whole while very young (a couple of inches) but later you have to take out the hard central stem and seeds. Pods will get to size of a small capsicum bell pepper, taste said to be a cross between Mint and Cucumber, strips freeze well and make an excellent ingredient in stir fry.... anybody want some ?

It worked, so they are on the way!
Threw in some CF beans as well (Blue Coco) put them both on the same support, Achocha like it cool and Damp, CFB Hot and dry, that way you always get a crop to eat and enough seeds to try again the year after!

Many thanks
