Title: Happy as larry!
Post by: Mrs Ava on May 12, 2006, 23:01:50
Well, after getting washed out on Monday, I got back to the plot for a couple of hours on Wednesday, and the whole of today!  A couple of snaps of things shaking and moving!

Parsnips have germinated well.

Little radishes.  Harvested 3 on Wednesday, pulled 10 today!  I pull them young because the lack of water means they bolt very quickly as the temperatures rise.

Australian Yellowleaf lettuce.  The photo doesn't do it's yellowishness justice!

My asparagus has started.  I never get heaps, several of the crowns didn't grow, but they produce enough for me to have a steady few every week for the next few weeks.

Globe artichoke, purple sprouting (not much left now) and the first picking from the nine star perrenial broc - thanks DP!  ;D

All absolutely brilliant EJ!  I am particularly impressed with your parsnips - when I see those coming up I always  heave a sigh of relief. If the weather keeps dry I will be sowing mine next week.  It is magic when everything takes off and the growing season has begun.  :) busy_lizzie

All looking good EJ...I wish my parsnips had germinated...sowed on 09/04/06 and no sign as of last week. If they're not showing tomorrow it may well be a case of re-sowing  :(  :(

Isn't it great?  :) I love this time of year!  8) Mrs KP, you don't have to worry about frost with parsnips  ;)

No they will germinate at low temps  :) that's why they're one of the first crops to go in  ;)
