I have no idea what I'm doing wrong so hopefully someone here can help.
It's my first year growing courgettes from seed, the plants seem healthy enough but about the time the second set of leaves appear they start to die off.
They are grown in an unheated plastic greenhouse and the compost is kept damp.
Help please!
Could be damping off.
Water from the bottom of the pot and consider adding cheshunt compound to the water to stop the fungal attack.

keep the greenhouse well ventilated during the day and keep the soil moist but not too damp otherwise they will rot. you may want to make another sowing just incase these ones don't survive. :)
where can i buy cheshunt compound ? gardening centres ?? B&Q ? have just looked on-line and the postage is prohibitive.
Kays wants something like £8.50 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:o
Hi there! I swear by cinnamon, sprinkle a little around your seedlings. I used to have problems with damping off but never since using cinnamon. Happy gardening!
what a great first post .................. digging in the cupboard looking desperately for those unopened jars of spices.
;D
Thanks Mrs KP! another one is nettle tea!
got no nettles :'(
but i do have cinnamon !! yay!!!!!!!!!! (ok it might be 5 years old but it's still sealed in it's wee jar so hopefully might have some oomph about it).
welcome on board btw.
;D
Nettle tea is a favourite subject of mine - must have recounted the story of my mate getting rid of his breakfast in the hedge after having a good sniff too many times. ;D
Yeah!!! It really does stink!! But what wonder juice it is! I'm sure you can see the difference the next day!!!!!
