Title: Bulb die-down
Post by: Svengali on May 10, 2006, 07:43:02
The area round my pond that I keep as a wildflower meadow really needs to be cut - the grass is a foot high - but I planted it with daffs & tulips last Autumn, & though they are dying off, the leaves still appear bright & green. I want the bulbs to naturalise - so at what stage will I be able to cut?

It is normally reckoned to be 6 weeks after flowering has finished.

I agree with Palastrus.

When I am  pushed like you are I cut them down when the tips of the leaves start to wither and yellow.
