How about some French beans and courgettes in small pots, and lettuce in modules? Beetroot, rocket and radishes are very easy, but I'd wait a week and sow these direct.

Peas, sweetcorn, cabbages/caulis in pots to transplant later.

not a lot you cannot plant this time of year - courgettes, squashes, beans, salad stuff etc... getting stuff started off before you put them in the plot.

I have used suttons seeds website and they have been pretty good, lots of choice, arrived fast and no charge for delivery!  They can be bought from the shops however, if you didnt want to wait...

Try starting a thread in Swap Shop first if you want to try a few of several varieties of things, most of us have spares of seeds we've already planted and would be happy to pop seeds in the post. Don't worry if you haven't got anything to swap yet, just ask for the seeds you want and see what happens ;) ;)

I use Chase organics generally, as a HDRA (Grow Organic) member I get a discount, but take all the main ones for the main order season. Ask around on your allotments, most people have extra seedlings from pricking out and that can save you two or three weeks!

Last year I was given spring cabbage that turned out to be white sprouting broccoli, cauliflower that turned out to be calabrese, just been given 40 'Eye-talian' tomato seedlings and can't wait to see what they turn into ;D

You could sow modules of spring onions (Tim's tip): put a few seeds in each module, let them come up, and then plant each module/cell as a complete unit into the ground...  read about it over here http://www.allotments4all.co.uk/joomla/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,57/topic,18373.0 (http://www.allotments4all.co.uk/joomla/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,57/topic,18373.0)
