Would planting some chillies in the same bed as my broadbeans be a recipe for disaster? I'm really tight on space but between the broadbeans I could squeeze in some chilli plants, would the blackfly the broadbeans inevitably get cause a problem for the chillies? I know chillies can get whitefly but what about blackfly, are they a pest to chillies?
How do you squeeze a chilli plant? They can grow quite large!
Blackfly? Never heard tell on't!
;D
Tim...your sense of humour is obviously at its best VERY early in the morning!!
;D
Looking at your plot, I'm sure you have one??
;D
I lost my sense of humour re the old plot! Thats why I have a new one...No 17!!!
lol
The ones I had in mind were the ones I grew last year in our conservatory, but they will grow outdoors too. The didn't grow very big, they're a small variety. My broadbeans are spaced quite widely apart (in a block rather than a row) so they should fit in the gaps. Otherwise I could plant them as an edging on the bed where the broadbeans are, but I'm worried about the blackfly.
I have been positioning my chili seedlings outside during the day for a few weeks now and just noticed that all seedlings are covered with aphids. :( They are green ones, not black. I don't know if blackflies attack chilies but if they do, I don't think it's a good idea. My chilies were close to fennels that has been badly attacked by aphids.
As I said, I've never known it.
Thanks Tim, I found a spot for them in the bed where I'll be growing the sweet potatoes. The pots will grow as a ground cover and the chillies can grow above them. :)
I've ordered some sweet pots for a challenge, poss worth starting a new thread Jesse?
???
There are a few sweet potato threads about, do a search in the edible section and have a look at the wiki as well. :)
