Give each plant a good spray with tepid water on top of and under the leaves every evening to avoid the dreaded red spider mite. ;D

I'm having fun with aphids on mine...
at approximately what size should i be doing this ?? mine are still teensy weensy, the biggest is still only about 3" tall (and still indoors) ::)
I'd start as soon as they are strong enough to take being sprayed because it's being indoors and dry conditions which attract the red spider mites.

thanks George, will start doing it religiously (and watch everything start damping off) :P
Aphids? Just religiously squidge them daily!
I don't think that's very likely, Mrs KP. If they have reached 3" and have a few leaves they should be fine. But if you are worried about the compost getting too wet you could cover it when you spray.
I'm with Tim on the aphid problem but if it's a very bad infestation I'd try a home made garlic spray or a brought organic one such as Growing Success bug killer.

i'm only growing two varieties, cayenne and twilight thingy (from the GW trial), they seem to be doing ok so far but i'm about to leave home for 36 hours and leave all my babies in the hands of the OH ! :o
i think the red spide mite is the last of my worries :P
