Hi all, :) :)
I just got the offer of a second plot on my site. Not the half plot I was angling for but a full plot. Its completely unexpected. I will definately be taking it.
Oh boy, here we go again, but this one is only couch grass from one end to the other. So thats relatively easy to clear compared to my first plot.. ahem..my first plot :) Now what about those spuds I dropped someplace...
Col
wooooooohooooooooo ;D, get the radox ready ;D
a few people at ours manage two plots, they get round the one plot rule by using other peoples names. dunno how they manage, but they're well kept and productive. good luck to you with your second plot.
Hi all,
There seems to be a two plot limit here, some people also work plots in other peoples names. Some people have two and don`t seem able to work them properly which leads to bad feeling. I just ran out of planting space on my first plot so I`m looking forward to extending my growing space. Its neglected but it has some raspberries which my first plot doesn`t some strawbs and some rhubarb. And a shed ! ;D
I`m planning to edge it and then burn the whole plot on the weekend. I`m into slash and burn and I`m in a hurry to get it planted. So this won`t be pretty.
Col
As a private site we don't have a plot limit, but beyond three and it gets very hard to keep on top of it. I have 5 plots but they are not all full 300sq yds so really 4 and one is in my wife's name... she works two and a half...
Beyond four and we do end up clawing them back as unkempt! Good luck with clearing that second one..
Hi all,
I can`t imagine a time when I could work five, I have taken three years to get my first plot completely planted, so I was looking for overspill space and the offer came at exactly the right time. My wife wants a quarter of the new space as a lawn so she can supervise my efforts. So I`m planning a fancy compound space in front of the shed with flower beds, fruiting and flowering hedges and patio with tubs of flowers, hanging baskets with trailing tomatoes etc.
Then I`ll dig up and plant over the compound I was using in front of my other sheds on the other plot for working on my bike and trailer, sawing wood, constructing etc. and use the new compound for all that. ;)
EXCITING
Way to go! Have a wonderful first year with your new plot 8)
Cheers! Lishka
I have two plots - another private site so no limits. I can manage two, just about. One plot is divided into three sections this year, spuds, squashes and beans, so they can pretty much take over and do their own thing. The other plot is my higher maintenance plot with seed sowing and plant planting taking place. It works, but pace yourself! AND CONGRATULATIONS!
Oh how I wish to have a second plot. Just to be able to plant all those extra bits I give away. Could also rotate more efficiently.
Unfortunately we have a waitiong list and my sons name seems to be relegated to the bottom consistantly. ???
Thanks for the replies everybody, I`m trying not to turn this thread into some kind of blog but I couldn`t resist one more post.
I couldn`t get it to burn but someone lent me a petrol strimmer, it was an amazing first time experience. I couldn`t trim my paths with it but as a quick and dirty way to slash down undergrowth it was a perfect tool.
Someone found a parafin weed burner that I can use if I can clean out the jets which I will try but its rained overnight so I`m going to go scavange a pile of guttering someones left on a grass verge by a road near here and hose the spiders out of my newly acquired shed.
oh btw, A council clipboard guy told a plot neighbour that they planned to offer me the half-plot where I accidentally dropped the spuds, they never told me that and offered me this whole plot instead.
Col
Well done Col, the Council moves in mysterious ways ;)
Hope you get loads of pleasure from the new plot ;D
