Title: 5' mangetout support advice please
Post by: sand on April 29, 2006, 14:23:58
I've got some mangetout rodney (sorry but can't say mangetout without seeing Delboy) seeds from Marshalls that grow to 5'.

Any ideas of support for them?

I'm wondering if wigwams will be ok.  I'm going away next week for over 2 weeks so I'd like to get them in before then.  I had thought of making wigwams and putting some sweet peas in straight away (bursting out of their pots) to 'pretty' up the veg patch and help with all round pollination.

Any thoughts?

The first thought is are they frost hardy?  I know the sweetpeas I'm growing are tender and I need to wait a bit longer before they go out, or perhaps you intend covering them with fleece?  As for support wigwams are OK
