Title: Planting asparagus
Post by: FrankPool on April 27, 2006, 14:07:36
Hi, I`ve just bought 12 crowns of colossus online on a bit of a whim. I`ve only got half a plot and I was thinking of building a permanent raised bed. Can anyone suggest how big I should make it, or even bother? Thanks,

Frank

Mine ARE planted around 18" apart though they aren't in a raised bed, so I suppose if I was doing it that way the bed would be 11 foot by 3 foot 6" planted in 2 rows

Mine are planted in a bed (not raised) 1m wide x 4m long, spaced 18" apart in the middle of it. The bed will raise itself gradually when you mulch each year :)

Mine are in a row, a foot apart, down the middle of the row. The edges will be used for other crops.
