Title: Sweet Pepper Progress
Post by: vaca on April 21, 2006, 16:32:26
Hi,

On 26/03 I sowed 2 varieties of sweet peppers which germinated on the 9th of April. They've been in a heated cold frame since and they have not done much since... are they usually this slow to get going? none of them have true leaves yet  ??? - they're about one inch tall. Is this normal? I've now placed them inside by a window sill to see if some warmth does them some good.

Thanks,
Vaca

Sound ok to me.  Mine were inside on a window sill and about the same  as yours- put them into an unheated greenhouse on Tuesday.

Like toms, they don't like it below 50-55F at night.

Vaca,

I had mine in greenhouse but moved them inside on to a south facing windowsill and they began to thrive.

Also remember seeing one of the allotment programmes where a fella stressed how they need the

heat to grow well and produce good fruits.

mine are having a bath at the moment!!! then they will go back in the bedroom window, bring them in for a week and see what happens, probably do much better indoors at this time of year.

Oops, this year my toms are in a coldframe as I have no more room inside, it is generally about 48°F in there at night.

They seem to be growing fine.
