:o
Crikey me Adam...what a busy day!! I can only just cope with speedometer and clock...
???
i was doing fine, just did it in the wrong order.
i flew the smaller plane as the sun was setting, so it meant i had to land fairly quickly as i couldnt navigate very far in the dark as i cant see anything.
Can navigate in fog in the dark without even being able to see the runway in the 757
Well hopefully I will be flying in something like that to Turkey from Birmingham this year for my summer hols ...
Not sure who the pilot will be though ... ;D

Nice landing there. Hope you get one like that ;)
Thank you but no thanks !!!
Nice trip around, Adam . Funny that you should show that landing - I was just remembering, in the bath this morning, my landing at Goose Bay. Thick fog, at night, on voice talk-down, but couldn't cope with their steeper-than-ours approach angle & had to go around again. Much sweat with 10 crew breathing down my neck. Were we ever glad to see the runway lights come into view!!
Your film gave me butterflies in my stomach.
Do you do your flight simming offline or do you fly online with VATSIM or IVAO to get air traffic control instructions?
VATSIM. I also fly/run for Thomas Cook Virtual and am a S1 rated Air Traffic Controller 8)
Excellent - well done ;D Brilliant hobby! Happy Landings ;D
for anyone who doesnt know.
VATSIM and IVAO are organisations where flight sim pilots all fly together online. On these communites there are also trained controllers, who control the airspace just as in the real world. its all volunteral. There are some pilots and controllers on flight sim and these communites whose job it is in real life.
im a pilot and a student controller. So i can control smaller airports towers. like Birmingham, and larger airports like Manchester i control the ground operations.
there are also virtual airlines. some are completly made up but many follow a real airline. These give pilots some kind of pouint to flying and also routes in which they can fly. i fly and am COO for Thomas Cook Virtual. they of course follow the operations of Thomas Cook UK and also we follow Thomas Cook Belgium.

Thank you Adam, that was extremely helpful for someone like myself who doesn't understand the protocols involved. It is also very evident how and why you derive so much enjoyment from these simulations.
I reckon that after a good week of sim, one could actually fly a light aircraft?
What an exciting hobby Adam! That must get the adrenaline going! :) busy_lizzie
Brilliant Adam May you enjoy your other hobby for yonks
