Hi Forum,
I have an allotment in North East Scotland which I got at the back end of last summer. Lots and lots of marestail so I have spent most of my time digging. I have overwintered Garlic and Onions, Raspberry Canes and Strawberries. I have planted more onions this year and have just sown some Peas (Early Onward).
I have lurked for an age and have now decided to take the plunge and post. I have little experience of Gardening and have already learned a lot from A4ALL. Looking forward to being interactive with you all ;0)
welcome to you
;D
Hey!! You pinched my middle name!! lol
Welcome, glad you decided to take the plunge! Whats it like gardening in the North East of Scotland? Extreme weather? Or is that just an Englishwomans prejudice?!! Keep us updated on how it all goes, good luck with the mares tail!

Hi Impatient
Welcome to the boards, I hope you get as much out of the expert advice as I have so far.
My plot is in the Fair City in the heart of Scotland - Are you Aberdeen or further North?
Hello impatient,

Hello Impatient, and welcome. You realise that this forum is addictive, your gardening will decline as a result, as you spend more time here ! ;D
Worth it in my opinion though ...
Hi Sarah-where are you on the South Coast of England-my allotment is in Portslade
hi mary my plot is in bournemouth. not sure where portslade is, forgive my ignorance ::). is it over brighton way?
Thats right Sarah. I like Bournemouth too-my sister lives there.
Hi, Welcome! Glad you introduced yourself. Looking forward to hearing how you fare in your area. It is always interesting to see what varieties do well in different parts of the country. Raspberries seem to do very well in Scotland I believe. Keep in touch and let us know how you are doing. :) busy_lizzie
Hi and welcome,as said many times great people, great advice and very adictive - chief.
awreet pet ? welcome aboard the good shed A4A.
you in Beechgrove country Impatient ??
and KevB i'm diagonally opposite to our new allotmenteer and it would probably take me as long to get to preston as it would to him/her !
it's not all just around the corner ;D
Thanks to all for such a great welcome.
Extreme weather in the fair county of Angus? It seems that as I age the weather mellows think we had one day of snow in 2005 and a couple so far this year. I can remember hard frosts during the tattie holidays which don't seem to materialize any more.
I have had a look at the Beechgrove Garden web site Mrs KP but can't say I'm impressed. The information on the fact sheets is very sparse, so although I'm in country I 'm not a fan.
We are famous for our rasps up here busy lizzie my mother and father met while picking them I'm sure the taste better when they aren't farmed under the ever growing sea of plastic though.

Indeed!
I'm new as well and I've learned tons. The people here are friendly and quite willing to help. It's been fun learning and the notebook I keep is filling up. It's also been fun swapping seeds and learning about things I never would have thought of.
Hope you feel welcome!
I'll admit the Beechgrove site isn't as shexy as maybe it could be, but i do enjoy watching the programme all the same :P
and the more you type the easier it becomes ....... so get typing ;D
To my shame, I've only managed to get as far north as Aberdeen, and then only on one occasion since i've been north of the wall. It's something i intend to put right before too long as there's so much beautiful countryside up here.
;D
