Title: Overwintered Japanese onion sets

This was my very first planting on my new allotment-I put them in in October-when will they be ready for harvesting?

Mine are usually ready in June or July depending on the warmth of spring weather.   This year they are still tiny as it was such a long cold winter with below freezing temps and snow up to the 25th of March so I expect it will be July this year.   They don't store as well as summer grown onions so be careful to dry them properly and eat them up soon.  The flavour is good and they are useful to have before main crop onions are ripe in the autumn.
