Just occasionally nice things happen to even the most undeserving. This afternoon I was clearing out one of the frames where we had stored various pots of plants for the winter. Most of the post looked very weedy and probably nothing in. So rooting around and clearing off the weeds I discovered 5 beautiful well grown Clematis recta purpurea plants. Nice? I'll say, these were the only seeds to germinate from a plant which died last winter and despite searches in every garden centre/nursery we went to I could not find another one.
So carried on furtling and found 9 pots of Clematis recta (the ordinary one). Plus 4 huge pots of Moraea spathulata bulbs (how they have survived this winter is beyond me, they are a bit tender).
So carried on and found five apparently empty pots labelled Inula magnifica, looked empty, turned out the soil and new growing shoots buried deep down.
The next frame along is full of seedling Clematis, mostly C. viticella types, but some large flowered and some integrifolia.
Makes up for the things which have died this winter!
Very pleased for you. Always amazes me the tender things that survive - seems they thrive on neglect but then they were probably very well looked after by you in the first place!
wohoo! when can we visit ;D
