Hi there - I'm an allotment newbie and have sown my Pumpkins, Courgettes and Marrows individually indoors - however, they're very leggy and are about 8" tall to the first pair of leaves. Should I start again with new seeds and give them more light or will they be ok if I bury them up to their necks in situ ?
Thanks for any info -
Helen
Hi, I would start again, you have plenty of time. I havn't even sown mone yet and they will still be ready to go out at the start of June. ;)
Don't ditch the ones you already have, but possibly sow some more... you can then choose which will look the strongest plants. As Larkspur says, the end of May or start of June should be your target planting out time.
- thanks, I'll sow some more and see how they all look in a few weeks time :)

We had the same as you last year, buried them up to their necks and they grew on even more strongly. Produced cracking plants.
Can't keep mine alive this year.. Yesterday I resorted to bringing the potted on plants into the kitchen for some R&R and careful tending in a last ditch attempt to save them.
I don't know: leave them alone for one poxy day and they all look dead by the time I get back from work! Have resorted to the urine treatment in desperation!!!!!
