Title: Climbing frame
Post by: Mrs Ava on April 16, 2006, 22:15:25
For the kids, not my runner beans!  Does anyone have any good advice on what to buy and where from?  Want to upgrade the kids frame now from a toddles plastic type to a metal climber with monkey bars and so on.  They are lots of money so wondered if any of you could offer any advice.

Ta everso muchly!  ;D

Hi EJ

They are expensive arn't they.  I thought the ones at B&Q website were v.reasonable.  We don't have room for one but if you divide the cost by the amount of time they will spend on it = quality plant for you!  the cost suddenly becomes even more reasonable.

Another approach might be to look at scaffold poles - obviously erected by someone who knows what they are doing, but I suspect that by the time you added the equipment you will still have spent £££

Now EJ if you'd said six months ago you could have had our old one.  :( We bought a TP one www.tptoys.com/ and it lasted ten years of abuse from our boys before going to its new home.  We moved it a couple of times when we moved houses and were able to buy new sets of nuts and bolts to assemble it with for something like a fiver.  It wasn't cheap to buy initially but we felt we got our money's worth in terms of durability and enjoyment - especially when we fitted the water shute!

My post would say exactly the same as Jill!  We had a TP one, the Everest I think and it has been absolutely brilliant.  Keep looking in your local freeads as like Jill says you just need a new set of nuts and bolts and it would be like new!  We still have the swings after 15 years and will keep them too.  Although the stuff is expensive it really does last.

EJ, why not ask on FREECYCLE you just never know and if all you have to buy is nuts and bolts there you are, it is a very good site.
