Title: Blackberry,(fantasia).
Post by: KMARKSnr on April 11, 2006, 08:28:02
Hi all,
I`m looking for some advice about the Blackberry (fantasia).
It is potted and in the greenhouse,- recently bought from a leading supplier(1 month ago),and looks somewhat "wanting"  ::).
I have contacted the supplier, who assures me,that this Blackberry bush is simply in a "dormant stage",- compared to the Wineberry bush, and Tayberry bush off the same order and delivery ,it looks half dead  :o.
I have very gently scratched part of the base of this segment of blackberry, and a green flesh is showing it seems.

           Any advice please,
                      Regards,
                             Mark.

It is funny how some of these young plants take a little longer to come into growth.
When you water it just add some seaweed extract, should help its on its way.
I wouldn't be too disturbed at the moment.  I have a 9" stick of Blackberry Helen that is sitting still in a similar fashion, in a pot outside, yet the tayberry in the garden is growing away quite happily.
Just a word of warning - watch it doesn't get too hot in the greenhouse.  Have mine outside, should be fine so long as no server frost
