A heart stopping moment was had in our house last night, thought I would share it with all of our chums.
Ava was coming home from work in London, heading out into the depths of Essex to go look at a shed for the allotment. The weather was lousy, the roads were busy, and he was on the motorbike. Travelling through Gants Hill, London, a van in front of Ava was going from lane 3 into lane 2 and then suddenly decided he wanted to stop in lane 2. Ava was almost able to stop but the van swerved into Ava, bouncing him from the van onto a bus. Thankfully he was only doing about 20 mph otherwise I think he may have been slightly more squished than he was. :( The van didn't stop, >:( but the bus did and the bus driver checked he was okay. Ava was shaken and a little bruised, but otherwise okay, bike, broken indicator and a few scratches. A very lucky brush with danger, and a horrible night all round. I had nightmares about him leaving me last night, and I put that down to me prefering him to leave me for someone else than leave me in a coffin! :'( Sorry to be so cheery.
p.s. Just to add, we got the shed for the lottie, and the people have a huge waterbutt, terracotta pots and paving slab which we can have too. ;D :-\
EJ, Sorry to hear about Ava's horrible experience on his beautiful bike. It must have been so worrying for you. I am so glad and relieved to hear that he is okay, though he must have felt badly shaken at the time. Please give him a hug and tell him I am so thankful he wasn't hurt. :)
Great news about your Shed, and extra bonus having the other stuff as well. :) busy_lizzie
Hi EJvery very glad evrything was ok (well almost)in the end.
Do give my warmest regards to AVA must have scared you witless
poor thing. All the best Rosebud :D
So glad Ava's OK - 7 years on my bike, 1 accident on ice, 1 when chicken ran into the front wheel (no I won't tell you what I was offered for supper that night!), and 6 accidents caused by car/van drivers.
All best - bet he's feeling stiff today.
Gavin
Glad Ava is ok EJ, and you're dream interprettation just shows how close you are to him. Motorbike accidents are always really scarey, but don't let it put him (or you) off. Tis generally only silly burgers going too quick who get hurt (no offence Oz).
Good news about the shed...you must be well chuffed ;)
Emma, what a worry for you ,but so glad that he is ok.How disgusting that the van driver did not stop.I hope someone got his number because that was against the law not to stop.At least the bus driver showed some concern.Give him my best wishes.Look after yourselves.
Poor Ava, must have given him an awful fright. Glad to hear he's OK though. I don't understand drivers that won't stop - totally ignorant - in my opinion.
Poor cat too - that's one of its' nine lives gone.
Hope they get together again soon.
Lots of love to you all.
Eileen.
Sorry not to have offered condolences earlier, but with 13 people over the w/e, and grandchild knocking out his 2 front teeth during lunch, it's been a bit difficult.
How we know it - 2 of our children, who cycle (pedal!) in London, have been knocked off their things more than once. And no-one stops. Best wishes to both = Tim
Only just noticed your message EJ - what a shock for poor Ava, so glad he is ok, and the cat is not badly damaged. I think something like this brings people closer together when you think what might have happened. My grandson is hankering after a bike, with the old saying 'all my friends have got one' but his mum and dad are digging their heels in at the moment as he wont be 17 until October. Strange about your dream :-\
Only just noticed your message EJ,glade Ava is O.K.
Hope you and Ava have a good nights sleep tonight. all the best Tony (shifty) :)
What a nasty experience for you both, so pleased that all is well! :D
Thanks for all your wishes........
.........to be honest.......I didn't have much choice about getting back up on the bike....I had to do another 30 miles or so in the pouring rain to go and have a look at a shed before someone else got there.............
.......bit bruised.......but that'll mend......bit more experienced.......which I hope will help.........you live, you learn......
(...and Patricia.......good that they are digging their heels in.......I waited a long time before I started........at 17 time is something you certainly have in your favour).......
Good to hear all is well and you've bounced back Ava!! ;D
was very worried when I read the title. Glad you're ok Ava. Keep those bruises nicely soaking!
Just a short one to wish Ava well. I hope there is no lasting damage. Awfull thing to happen to anybody that. Glad now i dont ride a Mbike (though cars arent exactly much safer are they?)
I used to ride a bicycle a lot, but have been put off in recent years since the roads have become busier and less safe. You are quite vunerable on any type of 'buke i think.
Regards
Richard
Ava, how are you today?
Hope you're not all black and blue now or in any pain.
Eileen.
I hope you haven't injured any of your digging muscles!!
Ten x
HI,E.J. i am so glad your husband didnot hurt to much, give him the best wishes from me.I know how it looks like having an accident with your motorbike,i am a biker too.Every morning i go to work with one and kitty who is the waiting part,is glad when i came home in one piece.
....almost broke everything but his journey. Just goes to show what a bloke like AVA will go through for a shed.
Now that's what I call stamina and determination.
Thanks all of you lot, you are all so kind. He is okay, had to get back on the beast today to head into London. I try not to think about it Ruud, the worry is when he is 10 minutes later than he should be, then of course you start clock watching and worrying. And as for his digging muscles Ten, the poor love spent all day Sunday dismantling my new shed, oiking it up onto the roof rack, driving it home, oiking it off the car and stashing it down the side of the house ready to take to the lottie on Saturday, so if any muscles were sore after the crunch, they were forgotten about as every other muscle was sore Sunday night. He is very determined Ken, wouldn't let a little thing like an accident get in the way of securing his wifes shed. You know, it must be love! ;D
Love to you both EJ :)
