Title: Database
Post by: kenkew on April 08, 2006, 20:52:24
Looking for a freeby database. I don't intend putting in masses of info, just contacts with a bit of info. Anything out there easy to play with?

MySQL is free and has a lot of support with it, ther should be a link at the bottom of every page as this site runs on it.

phpMyAdmin is a fairly easy front end for mySQL - also free.

I'm a dummy. I have MS Access already on here! I put it on when I got this 'puter a couple of year ago. I just didn't put a short-cut on the desk top. All I need do now is lock myself away for a couple of weeks to get to know how to use it!

Ah well, that's more straightforward than having to setup mySQL :)

When my dad was getting stuck with access, we ended up asking the kids how to use it. I'd forgotten :-[ but they all use it at school.

Make a new database with the Access templates. Take it apart play around with it, see how the information is used. I found I learnt a lot from this.
