Someone posted pics last year of a wonderful sandy desolate beach that I commented on that I would love to go to, think a pub called the star was mentioned??? :-X (not that I would be interested in the pub you understand!!!)
I have trawled through the gallery but can't find it, think it was on the Scottish borders, anyone else remember where it was?
Thanks
Dottie P
Was it this one, DP?
I just did a search for 'Doris_Pinks' and 'pub'. :)

Robsa
I just read that linked thread. When I read this one, I did think it might have been Bamburgh beach you meant, except there isn't a pub called The Star there.
I live in the North East myself, and we often go for a run up to places like Bamburgh, Seahouses, Lindisfarne. The beaches are lovely. And there are some great places inland too.
Northumberland is well worth a visit.
And if you do go to Alnwick - there is the most glorious second hand bookshop there, called Barter Books. It's the old railway station, converted into miles and miles of shelves of books. Lovely atmosphere - roaring fire in one room. Last time I was there was before I got re-interested in gardening, so I didn't check, but I'll be there's lots in the gardening section.
AHHHH ... but do they have a Poundland Den??? ;D
THANK YOU Robsa, thats the one!!
Erm a search with Doris Pinks n Pub, that made me LOL!! Hadn't thought of that, thanks! :o
Oh DenBee, lucky you living near there, was trying to think of somewhere to go next week as OH is off, but I think it is probably too far for us sadly :'(
But one day I shall get there! :-\
Trixie, ohhhh Poundshops! ;D
Craster is lovely too - they still smoke kippers there and the scenery is very dramatic - the walk from Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle is amazing - we saw dolphins, seals and loads of seabirds last time we were there, but no people!
We stayed in a little cottage on the harbour and it was so peaceful.
There's also the Ship Inn at Low Newton by the Sea which was unfortunately shut when we trekked there by beach (in the rain, on our honeymoon - are we mad? ::) ) but apparently does amazing food.
The diving's good if you fancy getting wet, but hang onto your flippers -the seal's go for them.
Next door neighbour got mistaken for a girl seal by a boy seal :o

Hubby's a diver derbex, that would be highly amusing!!! ;D But don't think I would ever get him into the cold oceans in these parts, he is a warm water diver!! ;D ;D
Sally sounds idyllic, but have looked it all up and the route planners are saying over a 7 hour drive from here, so will have to save it for another year :'( when we are a bit more flush and can stay for a week or 2! ;D
