Title: Mulching with mushroom compost
Post by: thomasb on April 02, 2006, 22:28:39
Hi All,
I remember asking last year if you can mulch with mushroom compost.  Some of the replies suggest with was not a good mulch as it dried out and blew away. I am re-visiting this subject as I read in a book by Sarah Raven that she uses it as a mulch.

I would welcome your comments.

Remember it is very limey so some plants won't like it one but...blueberries for example.

I had 20 big bags of mushroom compost 2 years ago and used it for everything.  I have clay soil so dug it in and used it as mulch and it was fab.  The beds where I used it are no longer clay like and the added bonus was I kept getting mushrooms pop up!

It is great stuff and I only wish I had kept the number of the place I got it from.
