Or golden syrup??
Which was that Tim? ;)
Does anybody make blackberry vinigar?
Col
Golden syrup for me any day!
I haven't made a sweet one for ages Tim, thanks for reminding me!
Has to be golden syrup - and seconds :P ;D
Actually, grawrc - neither. I over-pre-cooked the toads, didnt want to do them any more, so served them separately!!
So now there's some left over for pud. So long as it's really hot & crispy, I do like the brown sugar treatment.
Hi Tim, looking at the picture I thought it was a Brioche.
Looks absolutely gorgeous. Golden syrup for me please!
Tim, my dad used to put jam on ours for sunday tea wonderful taste, i can see it now, on our plates with lots of jam Mmmmmmm!.
I'm a golden syrup on YP fan by upbringing, though I loved onion Yorkies too, which rather put paid to the dessert... Mum eventually gave up and put onions at one end only.
It's the one thing I miss about not doing Sunday lunch and no longer touching beef! (That and Mum won't give me either of her pudding tins...)
moonbells
Yes - normally I have to do 2 - one for the veggies.

Great idea moonbells, have been inspired! Toad in one corner, onions in the other, bananas in the third and one plain? ;D ;D
Tim,
I am Soooo envious of your YP. HOW do you make them like that???
I have tried numerous times with almost numerous failures.
Any helpful tips?
Pretty please :-* :-* :-*

Come on tim, give us the recipe - I'd like to get beyond Yorkshire Slab too :-[ ;)
Aunt Bessies, via Asda-the only chance of success here, filled with casserole and called Flat Cap Yorkies. Never had a sweet one, sounds very tempting.
It does look gorgeous beyond belief Tim.
No secret - it's AWT's recipe.
Equal volume of each.
That was 6 eggs(300ml), & 300ml of milk & flour.
Come on tim. Oven temp? For how long? Do you heat the tin beforehand? Dripping or lard? ???
Oh, good God yes! Like 400F+ - till it's smoking they say, but I like to catch it before that. If I have duck fat I use it, but n'importe! Depends on the veggies.
25-35 min? Depends upon how big. Until it looks right. And then a bit more, to stop it collapsing. Prefer crispy rather than traditional flab! The one in the pic went back in the oven for a few minutes.
make sure too you use PLAIN flour, Self Raising makes em sink!!
Oh and do try a tray like that with Boursin crumbled in before cooking, not good for the hips but very good on the tastebuds, and goes so well with Beef! ;D
I promise, DP!
ice cream in little puds made in muffin tins (more crunchy bits) for me - yum
;D ;D ;D
;D ;D ;D
Yum to all! :D
Me too SS - the total gourmet experience! Ou va la France? ;D ;D
I expect a report back Tim! ;D ;D ;D
Sally, deep fried ice cream, now theres a treat!
SS, I agree!!!
grawrc, c'est bien non? ;D
Gotta do beef on Sunday now thanks to you all! ;D
We will be round at 1 DP!
;D
More than welcome EJ! ;D
Looks mouth watering Tim. I usually love my yorkshire pudding, savoury. I do a veggie sausage toad in the hole with onions and veggie gravy, which is yummy! I have never had YP as a desert before which is intriguing. Quite fancy the ice cream one too. :P busy_lizzie
okaaay....
Shall be roasting a chicken for tea and will resist the urge to delve into the
freezer for auntie bessie ;D.
Spurred on by your obvious cooking prowess Tim, I shall make yorkshire puddings
as follows:-
preheat oven (fan-assisted, so guessing 220C & maybe shelf second from top??)
make batter; muffin tins containing lard in oven until smoking hot;
pour in batter and cook 20-25 mins;
fingers crossed & hope for best...
Shall read instructions for new digi camera and take piccie if I decipher how to do it :-\
Debs ;)
Ain't it a wonderful world where this thread is so absorbing?
Look forward to your pix debs :D
...don't hold your breath supersprout! - I have never posted a piccie
and looking at the instructions Dan posted, looks doubtful whether I will be able to.
I shall take a piccie, and read instructions carefully...
Debs :-\
yes Debs I've had probs with this. It's downsizing the kbs. Someone sent me a link on how to do it but I never have the time. I'd rather chat!
Tim...
I LOVE YOU :-*
...was a bit dubious with a recipe which was volume measures for dry ingredients, but
the yorkies were a huge, and i mean HUGE success. My children could not believe it
and neither could hubby who brought ready made YP's back from the supermarket.
The recipe quantities made 12 YP's in a muffin tin
Was on a bit of a roll and also made a raspberry pavlova for pud :P
Debs :-*
P.S. I have taken piccies on digital camera but cannot work out the posting of piccies
Oh, good!
Have put your recipe in our family cookbook tim :)
Why can I not get my picture of my beautiful yorkies posted :'(
I have tried to follow the instructions given by Dan but cannot find details
needed in section 4.1 A & B and have sat at computer most of day.
See my PM?
Tim might have advised paying £10 to Dan and then it is dead easy as you get the photo facility. Looking forward to seeing your pics Debs. busy_lizzie
Yes indeed - but one step at a time. You still have to have a photomanipulatory program??

You normally get a photo editting package with a camera these days? If not, then MS photoeditor comes with Windows, although it is not automatically installed with XP, you have to install it manually.
You're SO right, Curry!!
That's why I was asking her what facilities she had - & how she was approaching it - so that I could gently steer from there.
I'm afraid that in this hi-tech household things get changed and updated so often by tose who know considerably more than I do that I often search in vain for technology that has been abandones as outmoded. :-[ :-[ :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
Dare I ask whether you've gone the photobucket route? All else failed miserably for me but managed that ok. Just remember you don't have to click on 'insert image' when you do it this way. Best of luck, keen to see 'The Real Thing'.
From an Aunt Bessie user..........!
OK, so I have my pics in photobucket but cannot paste on to the site ???
Someone mentioned having to pay £10 to Dan, if so, how do i do so...
Debs
Debs if you look on the "News" section there is a sticky post re. donations. busy_lizzie
You do NOT have to pay Dan - much as I love him. If you just follow the Photbucket thingy & either select a URL or an IMG you can still post here. It just takes a little longer.
Here's hoping...

Debs

but tasted yummy ;D ;D ;D
Brilliant yorkshires Debs ;D
Right, I'm going to DO IT this weekend as we have guests.Fingers crossed for a good result............. :-\
Emaggie,
DO IT!!! ;D...
If I can, it must be easy.
Debs
What a show!
Remember - it's AWT's idea.
I can do this, I can.......... who's AWT please ? ::)
Anthony Worrel Thompson :D
The thing that really bugs me is when you forget that you have another grid above the pan, & the pudding rises through it!!
ok, now that's just showing off ;D
I obviously need to update my cook books !!! Still use good old Jane Grigson etc.
Tim your scaring me..................but if I fail I'll do what I always do and just call it by another name.
p.s. if you're not smiling, is it wind?
No, my dear - see my avatar!
All the better to eat puddies with....... ;D

Yaaay, result! And the photo too - magic puddens at last ;)
SSx
Got the beef in the oven surrounded by carrots, swedes and onions, so I'm off to give Tim's Yorkshire pud a whirl! Report back later.
DON'T BLAME ME!!
Well it was much enjoyed by everyone. But they've eaten it all up. So no photo this time. Sorry. :'(

And mine too, all gone. ;D ;D ;D
Same plates Emagggie! Good old Denby. But I've got the lads trained so they went straight in the dishwasher. ;)
Can't believe how much fun this thread is, LOL to all ;D ;D ;D
Please send the lads round Grawrc, do they make good coffee too?
Yes but you have to give them living space in return and pretend you don't know the state their rooms are in.. ::) :'( :'(
At least they'd feel at home with the crockery.
I've never made or had sweet yorkshires, do you add the butter and brown sugar after cooking :-[
Ta, John
Yes - or Golden Syrup!!
Thanks Tim :D
..and the recipe didn't let me down today either...
For 5 of us I used
3 eggs
150ml plain flour
150ml milk
seasoning
into 12 hole muffin tray into hot oven and another triumph!!! ;D
Love ya Tim :-* :-* :-*
