Hi Becky - welcome - I too didn't have a plot when I first came on A4A but soaked up all the advice in the hope of getting one. Managed to get it quicker than I thought in the end so good luck! Lots of friendly people on here - the search is good but don't be afraid to ask questions. ;D
Hi Becky,
Hello and welcome
Hello Becky. New poster myself. :) Learning loads here.
I have part-shares in an allotment, just got it the other week, and yet to plant anything, though we have dug over 4 good-sized beds.
I also have a new-ish (to me) garden to do interesting things with - eventually.
Am doing indoor-gardening at the moment - germinating and chitting in the house.
Hi to you as well DenBee
Hi Becky. Welcome and thanks for taking the time to tell us a little bit about yourself. You will enjoy this site . Beware it becomes addictive unless you have a strong will ;D

Hi Becky, Welcome to A4A! Getting an allotment is one of the best things I have ever done and I really recommend it. Hope you manage to get your plot soon. People here are friendly and always happy to answer any questions. Over the last three years this is where I have got most of my knowledge. Good luck! :) busy_lizzie
Good morning Beckbeck! And to ALL you new 'seeds' ;D
So good to see so many enthusiasts on board ;)
Beckbeck even without a lottie, you can have great fun with you flower beds and make them look like they never have before!!
Salads, onions, brightlights chard, beans ... the list is endless - and colourfull too
have fun,
FL
Hi Becky, new here myself. Eventually got my allotment (4 years ago) much against my husbands will. He now thinks its the best thing since sliced bread cos it means he can watch the golf without me complaining. The lotty is my therapy, and my little girl who has been coming with me since she could walk loves it too.She is a dab hand at shelling peas and wows her teachers with her knowledge of herbs and growing plants. Last year I dug over a patch just for her - she grew peas , beans, potatoes, garlic and sunflowers! Permanent rosey cheeks - lovely.
Hi there from me as well. I am still on waiting list for allotment but am lucky enough to have 2 fairly good sized veg patches at mine and parents house. These will hopefully keep me occupied for the 2 years or so I need to wait :(
That said, the information here is top class and no nonsense from what I have seen.
I have a 5 year old daughter (also Becky) who will now get to her favourite gardening time which is sowing. Major digging no fun but she has 2 mini-patches of her own. She is so proud of eating her tomatoes that were sown by her.
Hi beckie yes it is addictive been growing veg a few years now but am

Welcome Kea. Hope you enjoy.

Hi Kea, welcome
Welcome Kea, Denbee et al. Good to have you here. :)
Hiya to Becky and Kea, I am new too and have had my lottie for a few months. It was very overgrown and unloved so really needs lots of TLC. Tjust he council rotovated it before I took over, so I have covered most of it and am slowly digging and picking out ground elder and bindweed roots!! :(
It keeps you fit though!! and the people are nice too.
Helen
Thanks for the warm welcome,i do not have an allotment of my own yet, but am hopefully going to buy a house that backs straight onto the allotment and have been assured by current owner that i will be able to take over the allotment at the bottom of the garden that he has rented for the past 15 years but done nothing to for the past 3 years, just hoping everything goes smoothly as it all seems too good to be true at the moment,a house we love and an allotment through a gate at the bottom of the garden!Becky. :)
I have had an allotment since October but had to wait until January to start because the people either side of me wanted the whole area ploughed (it was just field to start with) now I am ahead of either side they're a bit fazed by the ploughed ground it's clay so it's not easy. I have a mattock and I have used that to break down the furrows then I just dig the bits I'm cultivating. I managed to get my Raspberries in so far. I recommend a mattock to anyone trying to break in new ground or remove shrubs or blackberry it's very effective one of my neighbours has an adzada and it is also very effective.
I wish my allotment was so close!
