Ha ha ha Doris........as you know we only have the rare 'pistasa' newts in our garden ;) ;D
I was overjoyed to find my first newt in the new pond yesterday. I ended up spending about half an hour watching it do nothing.
Just to get an idea of scale.

Just to update on the 'newts'. Over the Easter Weekend having a relaxing cuppa and f*g by the pond Other Half spotted two newts..............yippeeeee we have a family. On looking about a bit more we spotted 6 in all and I am sure we have more than that... I'm a Happy Easter Bunny ;D
Hi Mimi. Many years ago when i lived at home, my parents had a small fish pond and we soon discovered newts had moved in.We lived in the wilds of the North Yorks Moors.Onew fine summers day it was decided the pond could do with a clearout.
We thought, just for fun,we would count the newts as we fished them out.
When we got to around the 60 mark we stopped counting......... :o Thankfully there were plenty of more suitable ponds around the area so they got relocated.I swear we heard the fish breathe a sigh of relief.
Same thing is happening in my pond now, except that because the blackbirds have developed a taste for them,I don't think it will reach the same numbers but it does make you think!!
