Daft question alert!
Do I need to feed my seedlings? - at the moment I have sweetpeas, sunflowers, marigolds, tomatoes and aubergines on windowsills all at different stages. I wasn't sure if I should feed now while they are in the first stages of growing or wait until they are ready to fruit/flower?
Cheers
Most books I've read say wait until they are ready to flower/fruit. The Nurseryman down the road to me feeds his plants as soon as they have germinated. He has really strong robust and healthy plants, I followed his example last year and was impressed with the results and I now intend continuing doing this in the future.
Mike - are you just using an all purpose type of feed for everything but the tomatoes? Did I read somewhere Aubergines like tom food?
It's a sort of comfy feed, I say a sort because one week it is, the next a dilute manure mix and the week after that maybe a Tom feed, I tend to go for what I got at hand. The nurseryman uses a form of trade only miracle grow, I have brought some from him but I don't think it's any better.
Funny, I gave mine a spray with seaweed extract yesterday -and I'd swear that they're looking bigger and healthier today.
