Title: Cold Weather Brrrr!!!
Post by: timmyc on March 13, 2006, 16:02:07
What with this horrid cold March we're having I'm feeling left behind on the lottie - what has everyone sown so far? I've only managed broad beans, onions and garlic and really need to get some other stuff off and running - is the greenhouse my only hope?

Ive got in broad beans since November which haven't come up  ??? but lots of garlic growing nicely, and strawberry plants, thats about it for now. Got tomatoes, cucumber, cauliflower, sprouts, capsicum peppers all germinated on windowsill in spare room  ;D

Don't worry, wait till the soil warms up; your crops will soon catch up. I've started planting onions because I know they'll come to no harm; hopefully, by the time I've got them all in the soil will be warming up, and I'll be able to plant my spuds. Hopefully, by the time they're in, I'll be able to start planting seeds. Hopefully!

As Robert Say's do not worry, it is no good planting into cold soil you may as well be patient and wait for better times they will be here soon.

got some broad beans (going loopy), some sweetpeas and some tomatoes on the window sill in the unheated spare room.

we're away for a long weekend this weekend, so i wasn't putting anything in the ground until after we get back anyway, and this snow has just confirmed that was a sensible plan.

i'll definitely be keeping an eye on these threads and the weather for when i get back and it's all systems go !
