this is my greenhouse i finished today. We originally had a 6ft x 5ft then added a 8ft x 5 ft to it, so u can walk all through it. in the 10ft one i'we made 2 x 9ft x 2ft raised beds out og decking and the smalle one i/we made 1 x 90" x 2ft raised bed. my dad has a natural wood chip business so i put that everywhere that wasn't paved etc, to stop slugs and such, then i thought, if i put that on the floor in my smaller part of the greenhouse, i would be able to put pots on top, the automatic watering system that my OH did would water the greenhouse, the mulch would keep it there and would give off the humidty needed. and the slugs would be at bay. I reckon it is an ace greenouse, Any comments please
;D

It looks like a Trachycarpus fortuenii and also there is a pheniox caneriensis (Date palm) just poking into the picture. I have left mine outside :-\ it should be ok though as they are hardy. (I hope ::))

Fabulous littlegem, you must be proud! Lucky you, you can fix a heater to go with the drip system and laugh at the weather 8) Hope you have lots of pleasure for many years, definitely an ace greenhouse ;D

oh how lovely, and i'm VERY jealous (get's out her tape measure and starts wondering where one will fit).
you're dad doesn't want to make a wee detour up here with a lorry load does he ? ::)
thank you for all your fantastic comments, really appreciated. well, an update - today i finished the small raised bed. i line it with compost bags and then a massive bin liner so it would go up the sides and filled the bottom with gravel and secured the side with cobbles (looks very brighton beachy!) the idea is to have toms in pots with no bottoms, fill the bed with water for the toms to drink and i shall feed the toms in the pots. apparantly its like ring culture (got the idea from a4a) By the way, no idea what the palm is called, OH bought it.
the snail - I think, now looking back on pic, that the palm is a windmill palm?! and yes they are hardy (mine are) they've been outside all winter, i brought them into gh still with snow on (gh only just erected properly)
Well if anyone lives near retford, nth notts - I work at a pallet place and my dad has some spare woodchip so I'm sure if you want to you could get urself sorted out with raised beds and mulch!!!!!!!

The Windmill Palm is also known as Trachycarpus Fortunei and also called a Chusan Palm very hardy withstanding temps down to -12.7°C 8) the Phoenix canariensis also known as CIDP Canary Island Date Palm (in the foreground) is only hardy down to -6.3°C and should be protected in winter to be on the safe side. :-\
I have the latter outside as I don’t have the strength to pull it indoors. :o
roy, check u out with the palm knowledge. quick question. look in the far left of my pic, is this a yucca? its massive, we inherited it when we moved in, haven't seen it flower yet though :(

please note, our garden is still a work in progress!!!!!!!!!11 ::) ::) ::)
My guess is that it is a very exotic looking Cordyline Australis (CabbagePalm) also known as Torbay Palm although not a palm at all but very nice all the same, multi trunked too. ;D
Here's mine. :P
