Title: masterchef
Post by: moonbells on March 07, 2006, 22:39:47
Did anyone watch Masterchef yesterday? They had one of the contenders (the one with expensive tastes) cooking with what they said was salsify, yet the colour of the really thick, long roots before peeling was jet black - so it must have been scorzonera!

Sometimes I wonder about these cooks...

I'm amazed that someone can reach the finals of a national cookery competition without having used a bamboo steamer :o (from today's programme)
I'm rooting for Naja, she's a real cook ;D

Talking about bamboo steamers, I bought a new one at Lidl a week or so ago.....under £3 it was & it was to replace one about 20yrs old which 'inexplicably' fell apart :o ;D  Thing is, tho I've washed, dried, washed, dried it......it still taints the food. Horribly. Any suggestions what I can do with it? (apart from using it as a sieve in the garden  >:()

Masterchef.....I think that Digger is a star & will be really cross if he doesn't win. Can't blame the lad for not using a steamer before......wonder if he'd like mine? He is so great working in a kitchen under pressure - and isn't that what the prize for Masterchef is?

Alishka, I had that problem with mine, I steamed it empty for a few hours and it helped a bit, maybe try that?
