Is there such a thing as a thermometer that measures the current temperature but also the max and min temperatures (that can be reset) of a greenhouse.
I would like to know how cold my greenhouses and coldframes etc get at night.
And if so where would you get one cheap!

There are loads on line and you can find them in places like garden centres, DIY sheds and Robert Dyas. Even Wilkinson have them at times.

Exactly like that - thanks Sanders
now to buy one and see if my soon to be potted leeks will survive the minimum night temperature of my cold greenhouse.

I bought this MTR 102 from the Weather Shop with two outdoor sensors and it’s great, it has a display range from -50.0ºC to + 70.0 ºC (-58.0ºF to 158.0ºF) has a warning alarm for minimum temps and scans all sensors from the comfort of your home.

Looks great, Roy.
But, for anyone 'chanceing their arm', remember that these things can be at least 3 deg out.
Some moisture meters are really misleading.
I've got one of these, bought from Lidl's for £7.99 a few weeks ago. They have them quite regularly. Well worth the money and guaranteed for 3 years.

:o That looks an excellent buy Myrtle does it have extra sensors or is it just a one room thermometer? 8)
It's a 2 piece set, Roy. The main unit is sitting on my pooter giving the temp etc. for this room and the little unit I have in the greenhouse and the main unit shows me what the temp is in there. It can be placed anywhere you want really, bedroom, conservatory, patio but it needs a 'clear line if sight' so to speak for the main unit to pick up the signal from the small one. It also forecasts the weather for the next 8 hours, at the moment it is forecasting sun!! Hooray! :)
:o Geez I paid four times that amount 5 years ago :o inc: extra sensor, that is a bargain good old Ldl ;D
Yeah that looks tidy. Ian if its like the one that Jerry recomends your after wilkos do them £4.99
No Wilkos so I have raided the chicken eggs sales money and ordered the one Jerry recommended.
Will give it a go and then probably get a second one for outdoors
cheers all
Ian, if like me, you want to avoid batteries and electronics in the greenhouse, there are two main 'old fashioned' types: those which appear to have two mercury tubes, a max and a min, and those using a bimetal strip. The latter will almost always be in dial form, and although generally cheaper, become unreliable quite soon because they have moving mechanical parts. The cheapest mercury tube type I've seen was about 7 quid but they last for - well, I've had mine for five years.
Geoff.
