Title: greenhouse heater.
Post by: peterpiper on February 24, 2006, 17:22:32
i have been given an elonex heater. it has never been used. i think it is of some age .
anyway. ,upon filling it with parafin ,it (parafin) began to perspire/evaporate through the bottom.
Does it need proofing, can I paint it to seal, or is it completely had it.

Thoughts ,suggestions welcome.

If the paraffin is leaking out you could paint it but the fuel would just eat  the paint and still leak out becoming a MAJOR fire risk!!!.

If it leaks, get rid of it - too risky.

Robert Dyas recently had mini Parasene parafin heaters reduced to £10 from £25 or so. May be worth checking your local one if there is one.
