Hi,
What is everyone sowing at the moment, and how? I have sown Broad Beans, Tomatoes, Leeks and mixed lettuce on a window ledge, but am I falling behind??? What else could I have sown and would that be inside/outside?
Kind regards
I have sown Summer Cabbage, and Red cabbage, in propagators. Brussel sprouts in modules. planted 4 Timperley early Rubarb crowns. Tuesday I am Planting my Aparagus Beds.. ;D My plants arrive today. Sown early onwards, forced by grandkids::)...in modules, I normally wait for another 2-3 weeks before sowning them, I only sown 40. Lettuce, Little Gem, and Lollo Rosso. I started some your name sake, I know its early but I hear it can be started now, only 24 seeds in modules. Shallots in tomorrow. Onions sown, and coming on. sets ready to go. Apart from that, not much.
I dont think you fall behind really, because what you dont start indoors, you sow outdoors later and it catches up. dont panic. just sown what you want and need to sow. the window for sowing planting is quite forgiving really.
I won't be sowing much until the middle of March, purple sprouting, and will still be entering the A4a pumpkin race ;D. The plot is yielding radiccio, purple sprouting, winter and spring cabbage, and spinach, and growing onion sets, garlic and little broadies, so I'm in no hurry. Might make an exception for tomatoes and early courgettes.
Cauliflower, Tomatoes, Cape Gooseberry, Peppers and chillies in doors.
Peas and broad beans in guttering in the greenhouse.
Peas and broad beans at the allotment under glass cloches.
This week every window ledge will have pots and propagators on them. It is the one time of the year I think the wife may have a just cause to pack her bags and go. ;D
iv only sown most because the kids want to see some thing growing iv got
calabrese only 6 plants cauliflower 10 plants brussel sprouts 10 plants 3 types of tomato 2 of each chilli peppers two types peas french beans broad beans leeks peppers (never grown these before ) cabbage and my garlic has just come up i did have a cucumber till my youngist pulled it up onions ill do at weekend and potatoes ill do in a bout a week (i hope )hope this helps it all depends on your weather in your area also what time you have for sowing and moving them all about on the window ledge
I'm a new allotment holder too. My plot is still covered with grass so I started sowing indoors.
I've sown:
Wild Rocket
Alpine Strawberries
Chillies
Peppers
Aubergines
Okra
Ishikura Onion
Thanks for your help everyone......I think I've got a severe case of 'itchy fingers' and I want to plant everything ............right now. Especially as I am egged on by the children to see something grow.
Waiting a couple more weeks for most things then. (Wasn't it cold and frosty on Monday night.... )
I've planted:
NOTHING YET
Got all the seeds organised and ready though.
