Title: The Shed ... MY shed
Post by: MrsKP on February 20, 2006, 20:00:18
is being erect as I type.  I am sooooooooo excited.

Pity it's freezing cold and pitch black or I'd be out there filling it up before the doors were on.

The master plan is beginning to come together.

;D

;D Tee hee ;D I know the feeling, get yourself a little cupboard hung for the tea, coffee and cupasoups, a couple of stacker chairs and a wee table but  leave a little space for a few tools ;D

no power to it .................... yet, but it's only 30 foot from the front door, so i shouldn't moan.  apparently there's a big saw mark on one of the doors so will have to phone the supplier tomorrow but it's up and i didn't i think i'd see that til Easter !   ;D

there's a humungous amount of space as it's really high to accommodate the OH, but i'm sure i'll fill it up in no time.   oh cannae wait to get out there tomorrow night and have a tidy up !  men are such messy beings  :P

oh thank you, i've just turned the light off in here so i can gaze at it  :-*, then the OH came in with his tea and turned it back on  :-\, but i suppose he deserved his tea.   :P

First things first, the metal greenhouse staging that's been sitting outside for months with no cover on (and no greenhouse), then I'm going to plan for a bit, there's so much junk i.e. bikes and garden furniture to go in, everything will need it's place.

The OH doesn't think it would be a good idea to put a hanging basket on it cos of our nasty wind ......  I'm thinking BOLTS !   :P

You need to get a chair in there and just sit down and enjoy it...before you put all the stuff in.  I refer to my stuff as junk or sh** but I thought I'd best be polite :)

Post by: MrsKP on February 20, 2006, 23:21:41
lmao ..... if i was off work tomorrow i may have done but don't think the old bones could cope with these temperatures ..... now in the summer ....hmmmmmmmm ... do we have time to sleep then ??

it's still to be shifted to the right and back a bit to leave a nice area just in front of the shed for the cold frames and a few pots. and that still leaves plenty of room for the composters behind and out of sight.

and even with the dodgy door (which i'm hoping they'll let me keep for battens and things) i'm well happy.

;D

i'm having a bit of a moody atm.   :-[  took one look at the gorgeous thing in daylight and even a blind man could see the window was on the wrong way round..... "well that's how it is" ..... wrong answer !  so i'm off to surf round the site to cheer me up.

The wrong way round???????????????!!!!!!!!!!

Well, you are more restrained than me! I would be out there with my extensive tool kit (screwdriver, bag of assorted bent screws, knife from the kitchen drawer etc) and having a go myself!!!

Will you be getting the men back to fix it?

i'd unscrewed the brackets and was trying to put it all back together again before he even got in.  then after much huffing and puffing, it's 3/4 of the way there.

but if i hear one more stroppy stamp on the floorboards, i guarantee words will be said in a mo.

break ??? break his bluudy neck in a moment lol.  it wasn't his fault anyway, it was the "expert" wot did it wrong.  but cos i decided i wanted a pane of glass that couldn't be levered out from the outside, i guess i asked too much.

ungrateful me eh ?  and it's swept now, so once i've worked out how to shift it to it's final resting place ( 1.5ft back, 1.5ft to the right) on me todd, i can start filling it.

;D

and having just watched our Bill on his nature watch, i'm all chilled out and have a warm and happy glow about me. Hee has stomped out, came back cos he forgot something and gone out again.

I am going to have a nice hot bath, take my first Harry Potter with me and disappear into a magical cloud of steam.

I might take a seed catalogue with me to ring the changes  :P

I'll be sure and take a pic when I cut the ribbon and as my site progresses.

Thanks for the shoulder katynewbie, you're a star.   ;D

Had to check in here to read the update of The Saga of the Shed before going to bed  ;D.............you really gonna move that thing 1.5' back x 1.5' to the right all by yourself ??? Any chance you can set up a camcorder? We really have a right to see this.......it's not just your Shed, it's OUR Shed now. Are you giving it a name, btw?

Oh well, off to bed now and thanks a mill for the laughs, all.

did i wake up in a parrallel (sp  ? - never could get that one) universe ???

tool racks wth painted tools ??   ::)  i've got those wee tool hook hangy things (cheaper from ASDA than ebay) and that jam jar thing is an excellent idea.  would save my carting them all to the bottle bank wouldn't it but they'd have to all match.  i wonder how i could use 24 tubby beer bottles ???  bottle wall round the plot ??? NOW we're talking  ;D

and as "we're" now talking again too, i will try and co-erce him into helping me shift it.  i know i can be stubbon, but i'm not stupid (debatable) lol

hmmmmmmm - names ??  for traditional reasons it will have to be dug or lion based.   The Den is perhaps too obvious but has a nice ring to it.

Thank you all ..... today is gonna be a good one, i can feel it in my water.

;D

An easy way to move a shed is to lever it up and put a couple of round poles under it which act as rollers then you can just push it in to position.  OH is always deciding he wants to move ours - can do this with stuff still in it!  Your shed sounds wonderful, and having it all to yourself must be brilliant.  Enjoy it! :)

but i was giving him the opportunity to do something useful without me nagging in his ear.  a mistake i definitely won't repeat after the saga with the positioning of the solar panel light  :o

the inner shots will have to wait until i've got a replacement for the damaged door, so i can strip the old one down, use it as battens and have some strategic hooks for implements of torture.   :P

my baby was christened tonight for potting, something else i wished i hadn't as i lost my fingers and toes by the time i'd finished.

anyways, here she is yesterday morning, in situ in all her glory.

as you can see the four veggie beds are nearly done, and the permanent raised carrot bed aka bath will be on it's way at the weekend.  having now found a free supply of top soil and an early doors visit to lidle tomorrow morning, i am in heaven.

;D

p.s. the outside tap still runs hot  ::)

do you know, it is.  got a fair bit to go yet and am in awe of those of you with "proper size patches" , but if i manage to get anything at the end of this harvest it will have been worth it.  with all the things i've learned and all the people i've "met", i'm having a d**n good time  ;D
