We have a resident flock of 20-30 in the village.

Same here Tim, I like the Jackdaws, a bit mischievous.  They go about this village like they owned the place, along with their Rook mates.  One is permanently on duty on neighbours roof, sits there all day I think.  He lets the others know when I have put out food.

My Dad had a pet Jackdaw in the 20s.  Apparently it sat on his shoulder and he took it to school with him but left him at the gate.  Jacky was there when he came out of school.  Dad must have taken an egg from a nest and reared the bird to have one so tame.  Now I wonder who I took the love of birds from???   ;D ;D ;D ;D

I will keep a closer eye out round the village now then. What kind of environment has attracted them to your neck of the woods do you think?

Don't know - shouldn't have mentioned them - only 5 this morning.

The downside? Having to net our 4 chimneys to prevent chimney fires. Once was enough!!
