Hi
I can't remember if I posted this, but I was so pleased that I thought I'd pass it on again anyway!
I'm moving in a few weeks and am going through the gqrden to take things that I want (so far, I have 37 bay trees!)
Anyway, I was digging up a particularly good gooseberry, and some of the branches snagged - when I investigated, I discovered that any of the branches that had touched the ground had rooted - just like blackberries do!
I now have 4 new gooseberries
(just the thing to go with the 4 that I bought from Aldi!)
Has anyone else seen this?
yes, I've one that layers itself all the time. Makes sure I prune the floppy branches right or it's off again!
Blackcurrants will do it too. I'd rather layer them than take cuttings as I'm sure it's faster and has the oomph of the parent plant helping the rooting process.

Having been neglectful of my gooseberries, they also seem to have done this. I have not snipped them and replanted, but am inclined to do so next week if this is not too late.
When I took over my plot last year goosgogs abounded! They certainly do seem to be able to root wherever!! :o
Just as well I like googegogs. Made some magic jam, and chutney, last year. Looking forward to them again. ;D
