hi all, being new to growing vegetables on a large scale (certainly large scale for my anyway) I wondered what people thought about the use of miraclegrow.
Previously I've only grown a few vegetables in pots and mainly flowers and have happily used miraclegrow with great effect. I don't really want to use blood, bonemeal etc (am veggie and just know I won't be able to bring myself to use similar stuff).
Am intending to get some manure delivered. Soil seems pretty good - its neutral to alkaline and feels quite loamy (certainly not heavy clay or sandy). I've got some tomato fertiliser, which I understand is good for courgettes, cucumbers, peppers and aubergines and intend to buy some comfrey and gather some nettles to make a liquid feed, but wondered about the merits of miraclegrow ?
I think of it as a marketing dream, nice name, funky blue colour sold in small tubs that cost far more than if you used something like growmore which will do much the same imho.
I also prefer the slow release approach rather than the quick dose so use things like chicken manure pellets and fish/blood and bone.
HTH
