Title: Polytunnels.
Post by: caithness on February 03, 2006, 22:38:32
I need a polytunnel  (From about 6ftx18ft) for my soon to be allotment. Any good suppliers? Have searched the web but can only find a handful.

Hi Caithness - you could try ebay for your polytunnels (I assume you mean the smaller tunnels, not the walk-in type).

Alternatively, why not make your own? I found some bubble wrap for just over £1/m - then cut some old hosepipe into 3ft length. Planted the ends of the cut hosepipe in the  soil around my onions and every second arch I supported it with a piece of bamboo cane in the top of the arch or the hosepipe. Then cover the lot with the plastic and weigh it down so it doesnt blow away..

The whole 6m polytunnel cost just the price of the plastic - about £7. Try buying one for that price!
