Title: Ground Elder v. Marigolds?
Post by: flowerlady on February 02, 2006, 12:48:55
Having read about couch grass and turnips ...  has anyone seen evidence that ground elder DOES NOT LIKE marigolds?   :o

Have to admit that where my marigolds are the elder is less, but did not put the two together!!

IF this is so the YIPEE ...  ;D  ;D  ;D

If you can't beat them eat them flowerlady  ;), the growing shoots of ground elder are delicious like spinach and it does check them. Sorry to go a little off thread  :-[

Raw in salads or cooked like spinach! (depending what animals might have erm, interacted with them). Unlike some 'food for free' candidates, ground elder sprouts are nice  ::) but I have to harvest from my friends as I don't have any on my plot  ;D

Thanks for the link Supersprout, I can't believe people actually want to cultivate the stuff as my garden is full of it & I have a running battle to try & control it, no hope of actually getting rid of it.  Good to know it can be eaten, if not by us maybe by the chicks.
