I've got very limited space in my conservatory for my seed trays. The windowsills either already have plants on them or are a cat walkway. I lost about four trays last year to the cat knocking them down. I need ideas please. The cheaper the better! I can only think of veg racks at the moment.
I need to do the same thing. I have a downstairs room with full glass on one side. I'm going to make a simple rack from 1" x 1/2" wood at about 6' long. Later I'll jjust take it to bits and either store it or use it for something else. How's your DIY?
You may be aware of my veiws on cats, so we will skip my first rather cruel idea. I found a bit of L shaped aluminium in a skip (CHEAP U SAID) and some very cheap G-Clamps at Lidl make a great edge to the windowsill, so nothing can slide off. You can buy this at B&Q it's 1"x1" and thin enough to cut with a junior hacksaw. They sell plastic L profile too.

( That goes into my 'Tips book' Gt.)
Somewhere further back on the boards there was the idea of using your ironing board - this one actually has duel benefits because it helps avoid doing the ironing too!
Oh, and there is always the idea for 'hanging shelves' using loops of thick rope attached to strong screw mountings above the window frame. You just thread a flat piece of board through the two equal length loops of rope (which are attached to screws in the top of the window frame) and you have a suspended shelf. You may want to mark the rope and then put a couple of knots in it to stop the wood rotating though.
Paste tables covered in polythene sheet work OK and are certainly cheap.
That's probably my short term option, Larky.
Thanks for the help guys.
Ken my DIY is poo.
Not enough room for a pasting table Larky but a good tip non the less. I shall arm myself with that incase the lady with the HUGE conservatory two doors away ever asks me about staging. I'm not jealous ,I'm really not!
Heldi,
I've remembered a previous thread on a similar...er...thread!

;D
Oooooh brilliant Amazin! Thankee kindly.
Heldi,
Another suggestion. I've been 'Wilking' again (visiting Wilkinson's) and today I bought some 4-tier greenhouse staging that's narrow enough to fit on my windowsill - £7.99.
